Entry Requirements
Mexican citizens generally require a B-1/B-2 tourist visa to enter the United States. Unlike some countries, Mexico is not part of the Visa Waiver Program.
Apply for a B-1/B-2 visa at the nearest US Embassy or Consulate in Mexico. Processing times vary — apply as early as possible for the 2028 Olympics. Verify current requirements at travel.state.gov.
Getting to LA
Direct flights from Mexico City (CDMX/MEX), Guadalajara (GDL), Monterrey (MTY), Cancun (CUN), and Tijuana (TIJ) to LAX operate frequently. Some visitors also drive or cross by land at San Diego/Tijuana (San Ysidro). Flight time from Mexico City: approximately 3.5 hours.
LA for Mexican Visitors
Los Angeles has the largest Mexican and Mexican-American population of any US city outside Mexico itself. Spanish is widely spoken. East LA, Boyle Heights, Pico-Union, and many other neighborhoods have strong Mexican cultural presence, restaurants, markets, and communities.
