Where to Stay in LA Based on Your Olympic Venue

Published: August 2026 · 8 min read · The LA City Guide Editorial Team

Most LA28 ticket holders don't pick a hotel first — they pick events first, then realize their venues are scattered across four distinct zones of the city. Matching your stay to those zones can save hours of travel over a multi-day trip.

Here's how the main zones break down, and which base makes sense for each. For full venue details, see our LA28 venue zones explainer.

SoFi Stadium / Inglewood Zone

Best base: Inglewood, Culver City, or coastal Playa Vista/El Segundo.

If most of your tickets are for opening ceremony or athletics at SoFi, staying south of Downtown cuts your commute dramatically compared to a Hollywood or Downtown hotel.

Downtown / Crypto.com Arena Zone

Best base: Downtown LA or Koreatown.

This zone benefits the most from Metro rail access, since Crypto.com Arena sits at 7th/Metro Center, a hub connecting to nearly every other zone in this list.

Pasadena / Rose Bowl Zone

Best base: Pasadena, Old Town, or nearby Eagle Rock.

The Rose Bowl sits apart from the rest of LA's Metro grid, so staying nearby avoids a lengthy return trip after evening events. See our full Rose Bowl match-day guide for logistics.

UCLA / Westwood Zone

Best base: Westwood, Santa Monica, or Brentwood.

If your schedule centers on UCLA venues, a Westside stay keeps you close and still gives you beach access on rest days.

Staying Near Your Venue vs. Staying Central

Staying near a single venue minimizes daily travel but limits flexibility if you also have tickets elsewhere. A central Downtown base is the better compromise for visitors with a mixed, multi-zone schedule.
