Accessible LA28 Olympics Travel Guide

Accessible tickets, Metro, LAX, hotel questions, mobility devices and venue-day preparation.

September 30, 2026 · 10 min read · The LA City Guide Editorial Team

An accessible LA28 trip should be planned as a complete journey—from airport and hotel to transit, venue entry and the return trip. This guide separates services already confirmed from details that LA28 will publish closer to 2028.

Updated September 30, 2026: Accessibility services continue to evolve. Confirm accommodations directly with LA28, your airline, hotel and transit provider before travel.

Start With Official Contacts

LA28 states that accessible ticket categories will be available for every Olympic and Paralympic session, subject to inventory. Its current categories include wheelchair, wheelchair companion, semi-ambulatory and semi-ambulatory companion seating. LA28 encourages advance requests for reasonable modifications and lists support.accessibility@la28.org for accessibility questions.

Information booths are planned throughout venues to answer accessibility questions, support pre-arranged accommodations and help with accessible routes. Do not wait until event day for a complex accommodation that can be requested in advance.

Accessible Ticket Checklist

Using LA Metro

Metro says all its buses and trains are wheelchair accessible, and rail platforms have an elevator, ramp or accessible walkway. Buses include boarding and securement support; designated wheelchair areas are available on trains. Service animals are allowed when under control and trained to perform a disability-related task.

Elevator outages can change an otherwise simple route. Check Metro alerts before leaving and allow enough time to use an alternate station. Metro’s official Accessibility Guide explains boarding, station features, mobility aids and service animals.

Important: LA28 says there will be no spectator parking at venues. Accessible public transit, park-and-ride and paratransit are part of the planned network, but venue-specific routes will be released later.

Paratransit Planning

Access Services provides ADA paratransit for eligible riders in Los Angeles County whose disabilities prevent independent use of fixed-route service. Eligibility, visitor status, service area and reservation rules require advance review. Do not assume that eligibility in another city automatically creates a same-day booking in Los Angeles.

Contact Access Services well before the trip, then compare the reservation window with your ticket session. Major-event demand, security perimeters and designated drop-off points may affect trip timing.

Accessible Travel Through LAX

LAX advises travelers to request airline wheelchair service in advance; the airline provides that service. The airport also offers accessible ground-transport features, including ADA-accessible LAX-it shuttles for rideshare and taxi pickup. Official airport guidance identifies accessible passenger loading zones and accessible taxis.

Tell the airline about aisle-chair, battery, transfer or mobility-device requirements before travel. Photograph your device, label detachable parts and carry essential repair information. If using rideshare, request the correct vehicle type and allow extra pickup time.

Choosing a Hotel

Call the property rather than relying only on a booking filter. Ask for measurements and features specific to your needs: bed clearance, roll-in shower dimensions, grab-bar placement, door width, visual alarm, refrigerator for medication, elevator access and the route from the street.

Also inspect the last half-mile. A hotel can advertise an accessible room while the route to transit includes steep grades, damaged sidewalks or difficult crossings. Use street-level maps and ask the property to describe the entrance-to-station route.

Venue Day Plan

  1. Check the official event page, weather and transit alerts.
  2. Charge powered equipment and pack required medication.
  3. Save your accommodation request and ticket offline.
  4. Follow the assigned accessible arrival route and screening entrance.
  5. Locate the information booth, accessible restroom and return-transport point after entry.
  6. Leave with enough medication, battery and water capacity for a delayed return.

Sensory and Communication Access

LA28 says planned offerings may include ASL interpretation, live captioning and assistive-listening systems, subject to availability and operational details. Ask which sessions provide a service and where equipment is collected. For sensory needs, request current information on quiet spaces, re-entry rules and allowable support items rather than assuming all venues use the same policy.
